The 'Report'

Today at our weekly Exchange Club meeting, Harold gave his report for the trip.  It sounds like they had quite an adventure, but survived it anyway:-)
Lots of snow. Lots of coooold nights.  But still a good time.
We'll be posting a video of their trip as soon as we can capture it to the computer and edit it into something to look at.

Welcome home Harold and Derek.

Well good grief

So, I just get off the phone with Harold's shop, and they tell me he got home over the weekend.  Hey Harold, a little communication please! Answer the phone!
They are back, warm and well... until I get my hands on em anyway:-)
There was no need to send a SPOT from his recliner I guess.

Welcome back guys.  We'll post a highlights reel as soon as we can.  Stay tuned.

Day three... no SPOT!

I've been trying to get a report on Harold all day, and I haven't been able to make contact.  If everything is going as planned, the boys are either picked up, or they should be getting close to a pickup point.  It's dark now though, so if they are not bedded down, they won't be out yet.
I'm hoping that it just means they are taking as much time to come out as they did getting there (Timothy Lake).  Truth be told, I was wondering how they could get back that fast anyway.  The only thing that's getting under my skin is that we're not seeing the daily SPOT transmissions coming as we are supposed to.

Things that make you say, 'hmmmmmm'

OK Harold, two days and no SPOT transmission.  That's just wrong.
All we can do now is wait for tomorrow and see if they poke their nose out of the forest.  They are scheduled to be picked up tomorrow, Sunday.
Harold... where you at?
(sorry, no SPOT link today)

Well... nothing on Friday

Well I'm not sure why, but we received nothing from the guys on Friday.  I guess they could be under the trees again, as they were a few days ago while on the way up.  At least that's what we're hoping.
They are scheduled to be out, and picked up, tomorrow (Sunday).  Let's keep our fingers crossed for a happy ending as well approach the pick up deadline.

Comin back???

Looking at this evening's SPOT transmission, it looks like Timothy Lake was the 'turn around' for our guys.  They've gone much further than the last two years, so I certainly don't blame them for heading back towards Breitenbush with a scheduled pick up on Sunday, March 18th.

Timothy Lake by mid-day today

Well it's Wednesday the 14th at 1:18pm and we've just gotten a SPOT transmission from Harold and Derek.  This SPOT location puts them at Timothy Lake. That's about 40 miles for their starting point at Breitenbush, and with all rough walking.  This 'very close' to doubles their last year's attempt of just over 20 miles. They've been out for a full week, and we can't wait to hear how their week went.

Another day like yesterday.

I can't help but believe that with it 'dusting' the valley with snow, Harold and Derek must be wading in it.  You don't have to go much 'up' to have a snow covered car.  But there they are... moving north towards Timothy Lake.  As the T-Shirt says, 'It's all good'.

Yahhh Baby!!!

Well, as suspected, they must have gotten under a canopy of trees, and not been able to get a signal out. Today, at 5:40pm, we received the signal we were waiting for.  Here is where they are.

Getting ever so close to Hwy 26... Go Get Em Guys!

Hmmmmmmm

There was no message received from Harold and Derek's SPOT transmitter on Sunday.  That's odd, but knowing what they faced last trip, it makes sense.  Last trip about this time they got into a canopy that didn't allow signals to be transmitted out.  We're hoping that is the case now. We will be monitoring this closely to see if they make their way to a clearing and transmit again.

Let's be thinking about our two gladiators, and sending them good thoughts.

Saturday's weather turns wet

Well, looking at the weather map, its going to get colder and wetter all this week.  Much more like a winter weather pattern then a spring pattern.  With the snow level coming down to 1000' tonight, it may not be a fun few days for Harold and Derek.
I'm thinking that their loss of an hour sleep tonight will affect them much, do you?  Don't forget to turn your clocks forward an hour tonight.

Here is the latest updated location link from today.

They are on their way !!!

Harold and Derek got off to a 'slightly late' start on Tuesday morning, the 6th of March.  Of all the silly things that could have happened in the month of March, it snowed down to the valley floor, and it made things a little slick down here.  But, off they went.
Here is a link to see where they started...

Now that I've regained access to the Blog (silly me), I'll post the links of their progress as they proceed on their trek.

Let's all be thinking of Harold and Derek as they do great things for the E.S.C.A.P.E. program.
